Hi,
I’m Paul Kassebaum, and I’m running for the school board of White Plains on the 20th of May, 2025. I grew up on Staten Island attending public schools and went to college at the Cooper Union in Manhattan on a full scholarship thanks to my passionate K-12 teachers. I want to make sure the public schools in my city give each child the opportunities I was given to feel cared for, have fun, be challenged to grow, and to flourish.
Before moving to White Plains in 2018, I served on the board of the Science Club for Girls and on the board of one of the largest makerspaces in the U.S., where I taught robotics classes and organized robotics competitions.

I believe investment in and access to education is the most critical local issue to improve the lives of our children. I believe education is more valuable than the jobs it equips our children for. I believe the odds of a child getting into college should not just depend on their parents’ income.

I look at education as someone who has gone from hating to read, to getting lost in stories; from being scared of tests on “useless” math, to learning math for a sense of awe. As a father, I look at education through my toddler’s eyes: playing (sometimes with friends). As an American, I look at education as a birthright that has been stripped from too many.

I hope you’ll help me bring my values and perspectives to the school board to serve the children of our city.
The election is on Tuesday, 20th of May, 2025 from noon to 9:00 PM at six polling places.
